After leading the team to design Tripanion, the group trip planning web app that allows people to video chat and book trips together, Xintong Liu has been announced by ADPList as one of their winners of the 2021 Golden Mentor Award. Liu’s excellent leadership skills and experience not only have made her an outstanding designer, but also have brought a variety of young talents to the leading tech companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Dell, etc.
Liu has been dedicated to her career as a designer since she completed her master program in Communication in Digital Media at University of Washington. She portrayed herself as a designer enjoying creating minimalist, user-centric, and pixel-perfect design. As an expert in the design industry, Liu has paid much attention to the next generation of designers at the same time. By providing mentorship and sharing her design experience and insights, Liu is helping others to stay on the right track and have their dreams come true.
“I have been providing mentorship to next-generation designers,” Liu says, “I help young designers, especially those who are candidates in the tech industry, to review their resumes and portfolio, practice interviews, and give them career advice. And I am also involved with different universities to share my design experience and insights with students who are interested in getting into the UX/UI field.”
Known as The Amazing Design People List, ADPList is a global community of mentors and learners – a platform where people can find, book and meet mentors around the world. The qualification criteria of its annual Golden Mentor awards ranges from reviews from mentees, the consistency of impact (not frequency), contributions to community like helping fellow mentors, and more. Like the other 28 winners, Liu’s stories and mentors are considered inspiring examples to the young designers.
Recognized by the University of Washington as an alumni that stands out, Liu was invited to attend UW Comm Lead January First Friday: Content Strategy + UX Career Panel as the guest speaker to share how she landed on her positions and the necessary skills to step into this field. Liu has helped hundreds of students explicitly define their career goals and the efforts needed to be made so that they could avoid detours.
Liu believes that everyone that’s passionate about the design industry should not be neglected. Regardless of whether they are professionally trained candidates or amateurs that are looking to build their career in this industry, Liu has never hesitated to provide them with the critical information and industry knowledge they need to become successful.
