The vibrant community of West Hollywood gathered in celebration of its beloved canine companions on Saturday, as Lisa Vanderpump, along with her husband Ken Todd and The Vanderpump Dog Foundation, hosted the eighth annual “World Dog Day.” Presented by NutriSource Pet Foods, this festive outdoor gathering drew over two thousand dog lovers and their furry friends, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and purpose.
Co-sponsored by The City of West Hollywood, the event aimed not only to celebrate dogs but also to raise awareness about the ongoing issues of dog abuse, both locally and globally. Attendees were treated to a variety of activities and amenities, including more than 45 pet-centered vendors, live entertainment, and educational areas highlighting responsible pet ownership.
Lisa Vanderpump, the founder of The Vanderpump Dog Foundation, expressed her gratitude to all participants. “It’s incredible to me that we are on our 8th World Dog Day—a day that is truly my favorite of the year. We’ve been able to do so much for dog rescue since we launched The Vanderpump Dog Foundation,” she stated. This year, the foundation aims to surpass its goal of rescuing 3,000 dogs in the Los Angeles area, while also providing assistance to countless others internationally.
The event featured engaging dog-centric activities, including the popular “Vanderpump Dogs Look-Alike Contest,” sponsored by The Posh Puppy Boutique, and an entertaining Doggy Pie Eating Contest. Singer/songwriter Sam De Rosa served as the MC for a series of doggy events, while Tom Schwartz from “Vanderpump Rules” participated in a magic show by award-winning magician Katrina Kroetch. Celebrities from Hulu’s “Vanderpump Villa” also lent their voices as judges for various contests throughout the day.
With DJ Bateeza spinning tunes and an array of pet-focused vendors, including NutriSource Pet Foods as the title sponsor, the day was filled with excitement. Notable attendees included actress Maggie Lawson from “Psych,” as well as familiar faces from “Vanderpump Rules,” making the event a star-studded affair.
In her closing remarks, Vanderpump acknowledged the unwavering support of her dedicated staff and volunteers. “I am so proud that our Foundation has been working for 8 years in the animal rescue sector. Thank you to the City of West Hollywood for always supporting us, and to all of our sponsors, including NutriSource, that have made a real difference in our rescue efforts,” she remarked. The Vanderpump Dog Foundation continues to focus on its Emergency Medical Fund, aiming to rescue dogs in critical condition and ensure a brighter future for as many dogs as possible.
As the sun set on another successful World Dog Day, the community left with hearts full of hope and optimism for the well-being of its four-legged friends.
