In many creation myths, a cosmic egg is laid by a giant bird in a formless, primordial ocean. From this egg, the Sun hatches, and the Earth and Sky separate from each other, giving rise to all forms of natural and supernatural life. According to ancient Chinese and Indian mythology, the Sky and Earth appear from the halves of the egg, with the Sun represented in the yolk.
Many scientists still adhere to the theory that the universe was formed by an explosion known as the “Big Bang.”
In the painting, two groups of people on the beach play tug of war, resembling the Greenwich Meridian, marking the point of zero time.
It is believed that Time emerged along with the formation of the universe, approximately 14 billion years ago. The hourglass and the clock serve as earthly and human evidence of time.
The seashell in the painting, along with humans and its double helix representing the DNA structure, symbolizes the beginning of life on Earth.
The bonfire depicted in the painting imitates sunlight, offering warmth to people at night and symbolizing civilization’s progress.
The details in the foreground and in the sky evoke human spirituality. In the bay below, three fishermen are seen capturing fish in different ways. This act draws an analogy between catching fish and converting people to the new faith, as Jesus did. The faithful were baptized in water and called “pisciculis” or little fishes. The three intertwined fish symbolize the Trinity.
The butterfly wings of the fishing net suggest an old association with newly converted souls. The Butterfly was a symbol of immortality in ancient times, reflecting its life cycle: life, death, and revival.
The figure hovering in the clouds represents the universal spirit, offering peace and blessings to the world.
