Flame of Life and The Tunnels have always been more than just colleagues. In 2024, they toured Europe together. They guys helped each other in the studio and outside. True friendship between musicians is not so common, especially when both bands play the same style. And this is what made the recent tragedy even more painful.
When The Tunnels’ frontman Ray Lyons died in a car accident, it hit everybody. A young man with a big heart had his entire life ahead of him. He had his ambitions and dreams, but what’s more important, he had a family. The loss can’t be compensated, nothing in the world can fill this hole in their soul.
The recent Flame of Life’s single, «Te Mai Ufolt», is a requiem. Ray was their brother, and they will never forget him. The song’s melancholic tone reflects what the guys feel about it. Sadness, despair and some light at the end of the tunnel. Flame of Life’s signature style has always included the last part. No matter what happens, no matter how destroyed you are. There’s always a place for some hope. The band carried this idea through the years.
Ray has gone, no one’s gonna change it. But the memory of him is alive. He didn’t abandon us. Our presence in this world is temporary, and some day we’ll join our friend. That’s what «Te Mai Ufolt» is about. True friendship lasts forever, and not even death can stop it.
