The world-renowned ballroom dancer created the Dance with Oleg app, which features a comprehensive collection of dance lessons and has swiftly garnered popularity in the United States and worldwide.
Oleg Astakhov is a famous ballroom dancer, choreographer, instructor, influencer, and entrepreneur. For over 12 years, the Los Angeles-based dancer has taught students Ballroom Dancing and Latin American dancing and has amassed a large social media following of over 2.5 million followers across five platforms. Getting groovy from a young age
Astakhov was born in the small Ukrainian city of Lutsk. He was already a very successful ballroom dancer and competitor in his childhood, competing in the Latin American program and winning many Ukrainian National Titles in the junior and youth divisions.
Oleg eventually relocated to Poland to further his education. As he continued to pursue dancing, Astakhov would earn a Master’s Degree in Management and Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Psychology while in university. In Poland, Oleg participated in the Polish version of Big Brother, instantly becoming one of the show’s most popular contestants.
Continued success in front of a larger audience
Astakhov relocated to Los Angeles, California, to further refine his talent for dancing and where he also competed as a professional ballroom dancer. He attained great success in American dancing competitions, leading him to launch his first dance school, Ballroom Dancing LA, in 2007. He immediately grew in popularity and became one of the market’s most sought-after ballroom dancing instructors, even working with celebrities such as Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande.
Astakhov’s success was far from over. He opened more dance studios throughout California, including a franchise of one of the world’s largest dance companies, Fred Astaire Dance Studios. His social media presence also grew when his 1234 Dance Challenge and Lambada Instagram videos trended online. Today, his YouTube channel has a view count of 190 million and over 400 thousand subscribers.
Reaping the benefits of his accomplishments, Astakhov set out to expand the reach of ballroom dancing by launching DanceWithOleg.com, his first subscription-based dance learning platform, in 2021. He is also set to launch his app, Dance with Oleg, in 2022.
