Filip Boksa, the founder of successful startups BookingKoala and King of Maids, shares insights into his journey as a successful entrepreneur. Filip Boksa was born in Poland and his family shifted to Chicago, Illinois when he was young. He had to move through various schools before he finally enrolled in high school and at the age 19 he started his first business with his best friend from high school.
Starting off with King of Maids, Filip did not have any degree, experience, connections, funding, or loans. He and his friend just had the vision to start a cleaning service company that would connect the customers to maids performing cleaning services. Filip believes that you do not need to have large funding to start your business, just an idea that is feasible enough to kickstart your journey. He started King of Maids with a combined investment of $6000 and within three years scaled it to $5,000,000 and expanded its operations across the cities of New York, NY, Houston, TX, and Dallas, TX. Filip dropped out of college as soon as the company gained popularity and his curiosity, interest, and inclination towards entrepreneurship led him to success.
In 2017, while working with the developer of King of Maids, Filip realized the popularity and need of the software and decided to redesign it for others to use it. The new idea led to the inception of BookingKoala, a software company that empowers service businesses. BookingKoala enlists thousands of service providers across the nation and serves as a competing platform for service-providing brands. The platform serves as an online booking software, designed to help service providers with lead generation, appointment scheduling, marketing, and other operations. In an interview, Filip shared that, with his hard work, patience, and consistent and persistent efforts, he aims to turn BookingKoala into a self-funded Unicorn.
Sharing about his entrepreneurial journey, Filip believes that, the first step to a healthy and mutually beneficial partnership is to have your mission in alignment with your partner because two people moving towards two different goals cannot achieve mutual success. He shares that gaining success requires personal sacrifices, you need to go of your leisure activities and concentrate single-mindedly on your vision. The fruits of success can only be ripened through hard work and patience along with consistent and persistent efforts.
