How to become a Hollywood actor
Those who succeed in climbing to the top of the acting ranks in Hollywood stand to gain both fame and fortune. It’s not quite as easy as it seems at first glance. In order to get and keep jobs in Hollywood, actors have to audition, make connections, and market themselves, and they are always looking for new roles.
This is exactly what Hassan Ibrahim, a former California Golden Bears footballer, went through in order to become an actor. He is well-known for his roles in ‘Fear and Love’ (2017), ‘Perspectives’ (2018), and ’13 Reasons Why’ (2020). When he was invited to join the exclusive Screen Actor Guild union, he seized the opportunity. No one can simply join the group because it is by invitation only.
Ibrahim has been a member of the Screen Actors Guild union for six years. He began his acting career in 2016 when he auditioned for Peter Nowalk’s drama “How to Get Away with Murder.” He stepped in for Alfred Enoch. Following that, he appeared in a number of films, including his most recent roles in ’13 Reasons Why’ (2020) and ‘All American’ (2021).
He also played an important role in a short film drama ‘Perspectives’ (2018), where he played the role of a brother to the lead star.
Connection makes you succeed in Hollywood
Talent alone is no longer enough to make it in Hollywood. This is how Hassan describes the harbingers of success. “Your network is your net worth,” Ibrahim says, “and this is true not only in business but also in the entertainment industry.” He believes that in order to be successful, one must personally know actors, producers, and directors who work in Hollywood. “Connection, not talent, gets you through the doors of Hollywood,” Ibrahim says.
A network, according to some Hollywood actors’ coaches, is required for an actor to survive this most dangerous jungle. Stars seek support because they believe that nothing can be accomplished alone. They say that if you don’t work with others, you’ll fail.
Ibrahim sees the entertainment industry as a vast and lonely sea. To overcome the challenges, you must be mentally strong. He became depressed after his mother died in 2021, during a time when he was also filming. He attempted to slow down in order to cope with his depression. He knows that his beloved mother wouldn’t want him to wallow in grief but rather use her memory to forge forward in the difficult jungle of Hollywood and persevere in life.
