It is safe to say that Nabil Shehadeh has mostly looked at life through the eye of a camera lens. He was 10 years old when he started making and capturing every random thing on his Samsung. It could be pictures of nature or videos of people passing by. With no knowledge of editing or presenting videos, they were uploaded on YouTube, right away. However, those videos from a phone camera were the start of something very big for him.
He started to watch and admire the works of many creatives such as J.R Alli, Sam Kolder and Ryan Nangle. Seeing their work, he developed a desire to make his videos and pictures look better and improve them. By the time he was in Grade 11, he was totally committed to photography. He had realized that through videos, he can convey his thoughts and feelings through his camera lens. By the time he was out of school, he was pretty sure that he wanted to further study in the field of health while pursuing his passion in videography and cinematography.
There was so much to learn when he started to study craft deeply. Every day, he was learning new techniques, new angles and new editing styles and was fascinated by it more and more. He was satisfied with the thought that he would have a job which he would enjoy being a part of; and not just any 9-5 job.
After completing his videography course, he was extremely impatient to execute his ideas. With no professional experience, he struggled to get his first job, but was eventually hired and finally got the opportunity to work in sports media. One of his first clients was Nate Robinson, former NBA athlete and J.T Tuimoloau, who currently plays for Ohio State and helped several high schools and athletes alike improve their social media branding and presence. Nationally, he worked on a project with Adidas Football U.S., on their All-American Athlete brand. That was a huge achievement for him!
As an expert in cinematography, he had the job to enhance the brand image of these athletes and take their social media pages to a higher level. Working with them enhanced his experience in this field. However, he noticed people have to offer so much more. Everyone has different ambitions apart from the thing they are doing, such as taking Football to greater heights, becoming a professional musician or launch a clothing brand nationally, etc.
After working in this industry, he understood that facing challenges and trying out different industries will enhance me as a creative. Every field will require different editing styles, camera positions and angles and different ideas to be executed. He knew how hard his journey was from a small phone camera to a professional cinematographer. Therefore, he will take up as many challenges as possible. Afterall he is living the dream of a ten-year-old boy, right?
