It’s the first time after the worldwide pandemic that the travel industry retrieved its original pre-Covid levels. Even though numbers remained nearly the same – around 10% of Global GDP, traveling habits notably shifted. Curiosity prevailed over practicality, and unfamiliar destinations started to attract more tourists.
Predicting the trend and driven by the desire to redesign established traveling habits, NY-based startup ARV launched the art map for Czechia (Czech Art Path). The first digital art map connecting galleries and artists from all 13 regions and letting travelers explore nearby creative destinations.
According to ARV founder Maria Meshcherskaya, the desire to create such a cultural tool came from their deep love for Czechia and its surroundings as well as the disappointment that a large part of its beautiful landmark is often missed by the traveler’s eye due to unpopularity of the certain locations. Whereas “local artists’ studios and galleries could be this “go-to attraction” that also will reflect the local culture, tradition, and authenticity” (from the announcement on 04/12/23).
The web app is available on the arvme.com website and is free for new members.
The map has over 200 galleries, 150 artists, and extended interview series for those who’d want to learn more about Czech cultural tradition.
Through 4 years of work, ARV established its image on the territory of intercultural communication and international relations by having a line of products dedicated to connecting individuals through the art: an art-friending app, online media, and now, the art map.
