Artist Jie Han was born and raised in Shanghai, where she discovered her love for the arts at an early age. Her childhood was filled with hours of drawing and painting, as she immersed herself in the rich culture and history of her city. After completing her education at the prestigious Shanghai Theatre Academy, Jie began working in the art industry, where she quickly made a name for herself with her stunning creations.
In 2020, Jie discovered the surrealist elements in The Book of Revelation after being baptized. As she explored the content, she found that it sparked a new level of creativity within her, leading her to experiment with modernist techniques and themes inspired by the Bible. This fusion of Surrealism, modernism and biblical imagery became the foundation for her most recent collection, which draws inspiration from The Book of Revelation and features 22 stunning pieces.
As she delved deeper into these two subjects, Jie found that they sparked a new level of creativity within her. She began experimenting with the style of modernism, blending it with the powerful stories and imagery of the Bible to create something truly unique and unforgettable.
Jie’s most recent collection, inspired by The Book of Revelation, is a testament to her skill and creativity. She is excited to share her latest work with her audience and has chosen to publish it in digital format on Amazon and NFT. She hopes that her art will inspire others to explore the rich history and culture of the Bible as well as appreciate surrealism in a new light.
Jie’s collection is a unique interpretation of the biblical text, as seen in her first piece inspired by Revelation 1:12-14 ESV. This passage states “Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire”. It describes the vision of John, in which he sees seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands, he sees one like a son of man.
Jie was captivated by the vivid and fantastic vision that John depicts in this passage, and it inspired her to create a piece that reflects the grandeur of this scene. Through her unique interpretation, Jie brings the vision to life in a way that expands the viewer’s imagination and offers a glimpse into the wonder and awe of the heavenly realm. The combination of modernist techniques and biblical imagery creates a stunning and memorable work of art that invites the viewer to experience the biblical narrative in a new and exciting way.
Jie wishes to worship God with art forms just like the Medieval Christian artists. She is constantly seeking new inspiration and experimenting with new techniques, always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of art. And with each new creation, she’s building a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
