The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation presents Dinosaurs in Motion from June 9 to September 8. This is an interactive and engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) exhibition suitable for visitors of all ages. The exhibition consists of 16 life-size metal dinosaur sculptures inspired by actual fossils. All sculptures are fully interactive and made from recycled materials.
Dinosaurs in Motion is a unique blend of science, art, and innovation. The life-sized metal sculptures are impressive and captivating to visitors, while their exposed mechanics illustrate science and technology principles in a fun and engaging way. The exhibition explores the themes of science, art, and innovation throughout and touches on each of these educational topics at every sculpture. The art portions highlight sketching, drawing, and sculpting, while the science segments explore kinetics, biomechanics, and robotics. The innovation areas encourage observing and experimenting.
Visitors can experience the exhibition’s narrative through experiential learning. Every dinosaur is available to touch and move, and visitors can manipulate them via lever and pulley systems, as well as with remote controls. This offers large-scale dinosaur interaction that is unprecedented in a museum setting. Additionally, visitors can test out their own artistic creativity and newfound technological inspiration with hands-on activities at the Innovation Stations, where they can create a variety of art and science projects.
The artist, John Payne, is the heart of Dinosaurs in Motion. Visitors can learn about his work and his inspiring message: “If you can dream it, you can do it.” This moving, human element adds an extra layer of depth to the exhibition. Through video and interactives, visitors can discover the artist’s story and be inspired to learn, discover and create.
Overall, Dinosaurs in Motion is an exhibition that inspires guests to learn, discover and create. It is an educational and fun experience that is not to be missed.
“Dinosaurs in Motion is the most unique dinosaur exhibition touring right now. No other exhibition using the dinosaur brand offers this level of interactivity in the areas of STEAM,” said Tom Zaller, CEO and President of Imagine Exhibitions. “We are excited to present these incredible works of art in a tactile way that really speaks to the most important educational topics in our culture.”
