Success is a combination of many things, and any successful person will agree that self-confidence and hard work are some of the main components. You must indeed be aware of your weaknesses and shortcomings; however, the key is not to focus on them so much so that you forget all your strengths and abilities.
Once your vision becomes blocked by all your flaws, no amount of luck or hard work can lead you to success, especially in business. After all, what do we do in business? We sell our belief in our abilities, our time, and our products.
If you do not believe in yourself, how can you convince anyone else to?
Self-doubt is often one of the biggest and most challenging hurdles potential entrepreneurs, or generally, people, need to overcome before they can start the journey to success.
Believe in your worth, work on your self-esteem so much so that you are your biggest supporter. That way, you will rebound from any loss you suffer from in this world, whether that’s in school, in your career, or in your personal life. But as you work on your confidence, do not forget the one other thing you can’t succeed without, and that is pure hard work.
Some people are naturally gifted and immensely talented; life has dealt them a good hand, others may not be so lucky. But do not let what people say get to you because this world does not automatically belong to those who are gifted. It belongs to those who work for it.
Consistent hard work means many things; it means saying no to distractions, being patient, constantly changing your approaches, and adapting to the situation around you while keeping your end goal in mind.
Success very rarely, if ever, happens by chance. It takes strategic moves and calculated risks to get there. And it certainly never happens overnight, so don’t compare yourself with others or be fooled by stories of instant success.
Keep smaller goals in your mind because you will work harder every time you taste a hint of triumph. And the best part is the harder you work, the more you build up your self-esteem. People who are underconfident lack the determination required. They give up and lose hope far too quickly. However, when you invest enough time and energy in yourself on a daily basis, you start believing in your abilities even more. Eventually, you’ll get to a point in your life that no matter how down you feel, you can always pull yourself back up.
As a young boy whose first venture was a simple grocery store in my father’s garage, I think I would never have dreamt that I would achieve the amount of success I have. However, through all the wins and losses in my life, I continued to believe in myself. I powered through any failure and built my strategies by utilizing everything I learned through them.
So, my last word of advice for every struggling individual out there is never giving up, especially on yourself. There is no actual failure in our walk through life, only points where we learn.
